Herbert William Gibbs is born in Southampton, England.
Herbert joins the British civil service and studies art.
Herbert marries Cecilia May Rogers.
Cecilia May Gibbs is born in Kent, England. She is known
as 'May', while her mother is referred to as 'Cecie'.
Herbert and his brother George move to South Australia. Cecie and the children Bertie, May and Ivan join Herbert.
Herbert and family move to Harvey, Western Australia.
Herbert, Cecie and family move to Perth. From 1887 to 1891, Herbert was a cartoonist for the Possum.
Herbert becomes a founding member of the Wilgie Sketch Club, joining George Temple Poole and Margaret Forrest.
Herbert begins teaching art at Perth High School. Herbert, Cecie and May exhibit at the Wilgie Sketch Club.
